Why DreamWidth
Nov. 1st, 2022 08:53 amWhen you're an old internet fart like me, you probably have a long list of places you've hung out with like minded folk and ghastly trolls over the years. Twitter was my home for years, but with the recent acquisition it's starting to look rather less lovely, especially now folk are getting laid off in droves, so I'm taking stock and looking for pastures new. Or maybe old. Of course I now have a Mastodon account ([email protected] ) and I still keep a blog at bofh.org.uk but only update it once a flood.
Before microblogging ate up all my attention, LiveJournal was right in the sweet spot for me. Great community, great features to support community building and the curation of my reading experience here. Rough edges, but in memory at least, the good bits far outshine the bad ones.
So here I am on DreamWidth, LJ's inheritor and very much hoping that enough Twitter refugees will be thinking along similar lines, because this can be a very good place.
